When I took
from sun and air
Unthinking of
their wear and tear
When I lived
like a growing tree
Sucking succour
into me
Did I live
then?
When I
spread my branches wide
Held them
out with due pride
When I
welcomed playful winds
Danced and
played with kindred minds
Did I live
then?
When I grew
pensive and dark
Like a
moonless night stark
When the
days grew wild and long
And my inner
soul stood strong
Did I live
then?
