Through labyrinths of blood and pain I’ve
passed,
A passage not dark but filled with
uncertain light;
Crazy, heady days of anguished joy I’ve
lived
Serenaded by minstrels of contrary thoughts;
Light and shade, shade and light
Mingled in hypnotic days and nights.
Stretches of stark loneliness I’ve
crossed
Fighting against sucking sands that blew
and tossed;
In resounding Halls of Fame I’ve stood
Filled with hollow triumphs of clapping
hands;
Light and shade, shade and light
Mingled in hypnotic days and nights.
In dire distress I’ve cried
Unable to stand, unable to stride;
In desperate hopefulness I’ve smiled
Singing tunes of discordant melody;
Light and shade, shade and light
Mingled in hypnotic days and nights.
To land of blank light I’ll now sojourn
Blindfolded, a walk I’ll take alone;
And into dark brightness I’ll awake
Disembodied, in a fluid state
Beyond light and shade, shade and light
I’ll live again my true days and nights.
