Rose Coloured Spectacles

Cruel the hands that smashed
My rose coloured spectacles;
A world of joy that I saw
through rose coloured spectacles;
Flint was that heart as it broke
My rose coloured spectacles.

Hues have fled, my world is stark
black and white, shadow and dark;
Oh where, oh where will I find
My rose coloured spectacles?
To fill my life with light
of rose coloured spectacles.

Blessed the hands that smashed
My rose coloured spectacles;
My mirror world they took
with my rose coloured spectacles;
Cruel-kind the mind that broke
My rose coloured spectacles.

Naked light, unbrelenting bright
Illumines my world, Truth's in sight;
No more shall I wear, no more pine
for my rose coloured spectacles;
My world is clear, my life is fair
without rose coloured spectacles.
