Evergreen Leaves

O leaves of evergreen tree
You do not fall
You do not fade
forever standing
Like sentries at gates
Smiling by morn
Smiling at night
in your greenery
The world delights
you take no rest
Though you grow old
Your colourful lives
Busy yet cold
On other trees
leaves fall and regrow
You stand and you stand
Nowhere to go.
Burnt in sun
Drenched in rain
Swaying and bowing
To winds of change
You leap and grow
From strength to strength.
O leaves of evergreen tree
