Yesterday and Today

Yesterday I was a wee bit lonely
Yesterday I had some niggling doubts
Yesterday I yearned for appreciation
Yesterday I fought for clout
Yesterday I clung in desperation
Staked all to be part of the gay
Today dawns a different day
Today my style fits my way
I dance by myself, sing my own lay
With sunshine fill the rest of my stay.

Yesterday I shed bitter tears
Yesterday I found fault in world's ways
Yesterday I snuffed out my dreams
Yesterday I lived with hundred nays
Yesterday I flowed against my stream
Gave up all and more than I may
Today dawns a different day
Today I win back my unique way
I walk with head high, swing to my sway
With sunshine fill the rest of my stay.
