I bid you goodbye
On spur of moment
In intense heat
Unthinking
Blinded

Like drops of water
From a leaking tap
Unstoppable
The sun and the shade
The warmth and the chill
Warring adversaries
Breaking the backbone
Of that goodbye.

That one desperate hug
That crushing embrace
Breaking the back of anger
That ran like fever in bloodstream
Melting the ice cold hurt
Condensed around my heart
Letting love flow again
Half eager half reluctant
Timid and dove like
A trickle of a creek
Afraid to gather speed
Waiting for another blow
To scuttle into retreat.
